Guadeloupe is famous for its numerous kite spots. Whether you are a beginner looking for an introduction to this sport, or a long-time kiteboarder, you will find here the best spots for kitesurfing.
In Guadeloupe, you will enjoy trade winds blowing between 12 and 25 knots on average. You should therefore plan large kites for your kitesurfing, between 11 and 12m.
The ideal season to go kitesurfing in Guadeloupe is from December to June. We advise you not to go between the end of August and the end of October for this activity : it is hurricane season.
The most beautiful spots in Guadeloupe are mainly located in Grande Terre, between Le Gosier and Saint François. You will also find a spot at the level of Caret island, 5kms north of Basse Terre.
Europcar Guadeloupe shows you 5 ideal spots for kitesurfing:
Bois Jolan: reference spot, for all levels, lagoon with shallow water. Three schools are present for beginners to teach you the basics of this discipline.
Ilet Caret : for experienced surfers, strong winds, corals
Le Moule : for experienced surfers, strong currents, corals, small take-off area
Les Salines : for experienced surfers, coral reef, take-off area with coconut trees
Saint François : for advanced, know how to go upwind, be autonomous
If you travel with your own kitesurfing equipment, we recommend renting an SUV or 4X4 car in order to have the necessary space to store your equipment.
Be careful, some spots reserved for experienced kiteboarders are only accessible by boat, so don't hesitate to ask beforehand and plan your excursions. You may also like to discover :
