The island is nicknamed "The Butterfly Island" because of its two distinct parts Basse-Terre and Grande-Terre. The island of Guadeloupe represents a true basin of culture and beauty. The wild nature of Basse-Terre blending with the social life of Grande-Terre makes a strong mutual inspiration radiating to the rest of the world.

Guadeloupe is a tourist destination renowned for its local Creole cuisine. It draws its inspiration from a gastronomic diversity that links African, Indian and European cuisines.

Inaugurated on May 10, 2015 in Pointe-à-Pitre, Guadeloupe, the Centre Caribéen d'Expressions et de Mémoire de la Traite et de l'Esclavage (Caribbean Center for Expressions and Remembrance of the Slave Trade and Slavery) represents the most ambitious place of memory ever dedicated to slavery.

When we evoque Guadeloupe, we think of coconut trees, beaches, turquoise waters and we often forget one of the historical specialties of the island: rhum! However, it is an integral part of the local Creole culture and many distilleries are active producing a high quality alcohol. If the Route du Rhum passes through Guadeloupe it is not by chance...
